ROCKFORD, IL - As the manufacturing industry continues the attempt to rebound from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. follows the trend of growth, adding Anthony Riportella to their sales team as a Sales Representative.

The addition of Riportella adds excitement to a company with over 300 combined years of machine tool manufacturing between their brands.

“Every sales team wants growth and I think Tony can deliver for Obsidian,” said Obsidian President Sue Nordman. “The changes we are making to add Tony to the team will put us in the right place to grow and expand our markets.”

Riportella brings the combination of sales and manufacturing experience to the table for Obsidian, having started as a Machine Operator at Loves Park, IL company Gleason Cutting Tools, Inc. in 2010 and moving his way into sales, most recently as a Business Develop Manager at Elgin Fasteners of Wheeling, IL.

Along the way, Riportella held positions at Bourn & Koch, Inc. and Rockford Ball Screw, both of Rockford, IL.

While at his previous positions, Riportella worked directly with multiple brands underneath the Obsidian umbrella. He sees the prospect of joining a company that he has intertwining experience with throughout his career as energizing and looks to make a positive impact immediately.

“I was previously employed with a local manufacturer that were the OEM for multiple grinding machine tool lines. With facilitating sales of new and repaired chucks and chuck controllers, that experience will be a significant tool with navigating this market and growing our sales and customer base,” said Riportella. “My first job growing up was for a vacuum work holding manufacturer, so with my previous experience and familiarity with the products and services Obsidian Manufacturing Industries provides, it was a perfect match.”
