ROCKFORD, IL - Adding to a recent hiring surge within the company, Obsidian Manufacturing Industries, Inc. has hired Brenda Medrano as Project Coordinator.

Medrano comes from Applied Products, Inc., where she served as Administrative Assistant for over 8 years. Her responsibilities included knowing all management systems and procedures at the Machesney Park, Ill. company, which will assist her in her new position at Obsidian Manufacturing.

Not only does Medrano bring administrative experience to the table, she also has previously worked as a machine operator for three years at Acument Global Technologies in Rockford, Ill., leaving in 2013.

The combination of understanding the shop floor along with the administrative side of a manufacturing company gives Medrano a unique edge for Obsidian and will help with unifying communication and increasing efficiency within the organization.

Obsidian’s president, Sue Nordman, is excited for Medrano to get started.

“Adding Brenda to our staff as Project Coordinator is a huge step in the right direction for ObsidianMfg. As we continue to grow, organization and project follow through is key to keeping our customers happy and being as resourceful as possible in house. Brenda has the skills to keep projects moving forward efficiently and I am so excited to work with her," said Nordman.

Medrano’s hire comes as the company continues to see an increase in size and production, doubling their company size over the past calendar year.

“With my significant experience in previous manufacturing roles, I am confident that my abilities and work ethic will have a positive impact within the organization. Coming from a manufacturing background gives me the ability to view things from a manufacturing perspective and working as an Admin helped me understand the business side of things. The combination of the two are key ingredients I need for my role here as a Project Coordinator," said Medrano.
